You don’t truly appreciate an air conditioner until it goes out. Especially if it is in the dead heat of summer!
Did you know there are certain AC maintenance tips you can use to prevent AC emergencies?
Take a look at these tips (and implement them accordingly) to make sure your home stays cool this summer!
Things To Do Now
1. Buy a high(er)-efficiency air filter. (For more information on how to do this, check out our blog How To Choose A HVAC Air Filter).
2. Clear at least 2 feet of space around outdoor AC and heat units. This creates less of a possibility for obstructions and potential unit damage.
3. Keep AC and heat units free of leaves, grass, pollen and other yard waste.
Things To Do Monthly/Seasonally
1. Replace your air filter at least every 90 days.
2. Inspect refrigerant lines every month.
3. In the summer, turn off water to the furnace humidifier.
4. In the fall, replace humidifier filter and turn on water.
Things To Do Annually
1. Ensure outdoor AC unit is on firm and level ground.
2. Clean AC condensate drain with a mix of bleach and water.
