As a resident of West Texas, you know that the quality of our drinking water isn’t the best. However, there are a variety of things you can do to improve the quality of your water. D&D shares several tips on how to make sure you’re drinking the best water possible.

Midland’s Water Quality

We encourage you to review the Midland water quality report each year. You can visit the City’s website to read the annual findings – some things might surprise you.

Buy Bottled

Though its hands down the most expense choice, buying bottled water means you’re getting fresh tasting water. Unfortunately, when you opt for bottled, you have to purchase the water – then you’ve got to load and unload it yourself or hire a company to deliver it for you. Though it’s good quality water, it’s not convenient. Additionally, all of the plastic bottles, though recyclable, create excess waste.

Use Filtration Systems

You can invest in on-tap or pitcher water filtration systems, as well. Water from your tap passes through a filter into a pitcher or through a device that mounts directly onto your tap. Though the filters can remove lead, chlorine and other contaminants, it doesn’t always provide the freshest taste (though it’s an improvement in some areas). Another downside is that you will need to replace the filters every 2-3 months, depending on how much you use them. This can get expensive for families that drink a good amount of water.

Install Reverse Osmosis

The best option for dealing with West Texas water is installing a reverse osmosis system. The device pushes water through a fine, permeable membrane; the water is deposited into a collection tank, one drop at a time. The filtration system reduces the briny taste and smell of Midland’s water. However, the filters need to be replaced every 6 months, depending on use.

We recommend setting up an installation appointment with D&D to determine the best place for your new reverse osmosis unit. D&D offers a variety of options, so set up your appointment today to improve the quality of your water, for both residences and businesses.
