If you have an air conditioning system, you may have wondered when it needs to be replaced…OR, if a replacement is even necessary. Why buy an entirely new system if the one you have is fine? You don’t have to! Read up on these signs to know if you’re in need of an AC repair or a replacement.

How do you know if you need AC repair or replacement?

How do you know if you need AC repair or replacement?

Is your air conditioner or heat pump over 10 years old?

Then yes, you may need a replacement. When replacing, consider purchasing a high-efficiency unit. This could save you up to 20% on heating and cooling costs!

Your unit is noisy.

This could be either the size of your duct system or a problem with the indoor coil of your cooling equipment. More than likely, this problem would only require an AC repair.

Your air conditioning unit has had multiple repairs.

An air conditioning unit can only be repaired so many times before it has to be replaced. Especially if your unit has hit the 10 year mark, it may be time for a replacement.

Your energy bills are increasing.

This is probably due to the fact that your air conditioning unit has becoming less efficient. Energy usage is greater (and more expensive) with a less efficient unit.

Your home is often humid.

Inadequate equipment, or poor equipment operation can cause the air to be humid in the summer and dry in the winter. This may only require an AC repair.

There is excessive dust throughout your house.

This may be a simple fix by sealing your ducts. Leaky ducts can allow particles from the attic to be distributed throughout your house.

Hopefully this helps you make the decision between AC repair or replacement. It may not be necessary to entirely replace a unit if the problem can be fixed with a minor repair. For all of your AC repair or replacement needs, call D&D! Or, you can easily request service online.
