Tips For Fall Lawn Care

BRRRR……. Is it just us or is it getting pretty chilly out there? It finally feels like fall! The weather feels cooler and the heat is not being missed, but is this the time to stop watering your lawn? Even though it’s cool, you still want a healthy yard, right?

Tips For Fall Lawn Care

A healthy lawn comes down to one main thing: water. How much you water, how often you water, and the climate seriously affect the health of your yard. Let’s go over tips for fall lawn care and how to best maintain your yard in the cooler months.

While in the summer and warmer months it is recommended to water more often, the rules are very different in the fall. In fact, watering too much in the fall can actually harm your yard rather than help.

Recommended Schedule

It’s actually recommended in the fall to water twice a week at 4 AM. Be sure to water each zone for no more than 20 minutes. The same rules apply if you are hand-watering. Maybe not 4 AM, but make sure you are watering early to ensure full absorption.

Fall lawn care comes to a halt when the freezing begins. Once temperatures reach freezing, watering your yard can serve as a hazard if the water runs out into the sidewalk or street.

We all want a healthy lawn, but let’s face it: in the fall and winter it’s more important to keep things clean, trimmed, safe, and ready for the freezing weather to come.
