We got a lot of questions from our customers, so here is a few of the top Plumbing Q & A’s
What causes low water pressure?
- Incorrect pressure or buildup which can be caused by low pressure from the street; high water pressure that may have damaged the pressure regulator valve and decreased water pressure; hard water creating calcium buildups in the shower head opening; and needing to replace the shower head with a water saving one.
- Rust: Low water pressure can be caused by buildup of rust or debris in the faucet or lines feeding it. Sometimes it can be caused by bad pressure balance parts inside the faucet. Try cleaning the flow restrictor where the shower head attaches to the shower arm coming out of the wall
- Defective valve: This could be a problem with the pressure reducing valve. The cartridge in the shower valve may be defective, and the shower head or the water restrictor in the shower head may be clogged. This could also be a problem with the diverter stem in certain tub and shower valves
Should I Upgrade The Water Heater In My Home?
A water heater is something that could cost you a lot of money over the course of the year. Another problem with this is the fact that many older models often have a certain amount of hot water that they store, so large families or individuals who use a lot of hot water may not even be getting a desirable temperature. However, modern water heaters offer new technology that can provide you with more hot water, without costing you more money on your utilities bill.
