As the weather heats up, you want to make sure your air conditioner is in top shape to beat the heat! In the Permian Basin, things can heat up in a hurry, so here are some signs your air conditioner needs a repair, so you can be sure to stay cool this spring and summer.

No Cool Air

When your air conditioning unit is not blowing cool air, it does not take too long to notice. Run your air conditioner on full blast, and if the air is not cool, this may be a sign your air conditioner needs a serious repair. No cool air blowing is sometimes a sign of low freon levels or that the compressor has failed. If you have noticed this change in your unit, call D&D today!

Little To No Air Flow

Much like the lack of cool air, little to no air flow probably will not take long to notice especially this time of year. Check each room for air flow, and if one area is getting more air flow than others, this may be an issue with your air ducts.

Unexplained Moisture

Puddles of moisture can be a sign that your air conditioner needs repair as well. This issue could be a result of a couple factors. Unexplained moisture could be a result of a refrigerant leak, which is very serious, potentially harmful, and should be addressed immediately. Moisture adjacent to your AC unit may be a sign that the drain tube may be blocked or broken.  It is best to address this issue as soon as possible to avoid other issues from hindering your unit.

Strange Odors

Foul smells may also indicate a problem with your air conditioning unit, and could mean wiring has burned out. Musty smells may be a sign of mold, and should be handled immediately.

Abnormal Sounds

Listen to your unit, because more often than not, if there is a problem, you’ll hear it. Noises such as squeaking, squealing, and grinding imply that something is wrong. Address this immediately so that a once easy fix does not turn into a pricey repair.

Problems With Your Thermostat

Sometimes the unit may not be the problem at all. The thermostat could be the source of your troubles. How to determine whether or not it is the thermostat causing issues, is seeing if rooms in your house vary in temperature as the thermostat is running.
