If the thought of surviving another Texas summer has you sweating, don’t worry, D&D Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning has you covered. Our technicians know just what it takes to keep you cool all summer long. Here are a few tips to help you beat the heat:

  1. Check Your Filters
A dirty filter will put strain on your AC system, causing it to work harder than it has to. This can lead to wear and tear on your unit as well as increased energy costs. Check your filters monthly and replace them at least every three months. The frequency your filter needs to be changed will vary by filter. If you are not sure if your filter should be changed, call us and one of our technicians can help you out.
  2. Program Your Thermostat
Always playing with the thermostat? Consumer Reports suggests setting your AC to no lower than 78°. The temperature can be increased to 85° while you are away and 82° while you sleep. If you find you don’t remember to change the thermostat until after you have left the house, consider installing a smart thermostat. Many can be programmed and changed from your phone while you are away.
  3. Invest in Fans
Even if you have an air conditioning system in your home, fans are a great way to keep the air circulating. Ceiling fans and standing fans are both good options to keep the cold air moving. Remember, your ceiling fan should run counterclockwise during the summer months to push the cool air down.
  4. Schedule a Tune-up
A well-maintained air conditioner is an efficient air conditioner. Over time, certain parts of your system can become dirty, causing it to run less efficiently. Your HVAC system should be checked by a qualified technician at least once a year. A proper check-up will include an inspection, cleaning, and maintenance.

Whether you currently have an AC system or you’re considering a new system, our team is here to help.
